Bayern Munich has won the German Super Cup by defeating Borussia Dortmund by 2-1. Bayern Munich dominated Dortmund throughout the match. Bayern was playing without its two key players. Mario Gomez hasn’t yet regained his fitness after the ankle surgery. Bastian Schweinsteiger was also not 100% fit to play in the match. But, the absence of these two players didn’t affect Bayern’s performance in the match.

The Bayern players played with a lot of aggression in the first half of the match. The new signing of the club, Mario Mandzukic, scored the first goal in the 6th minute of the match. He capitalized on a brilliant cross from Franck Ribery and put the ball into the goal post with a brilliant kick. The Dortmund goalkeeper, Roman Weidenfeller, had absolutely no chance to stop the ball. A few minutes later, Mandzukic had almost doubled the lead of the team, but, his shot missed the target by a whisker. The ball bounced back after hitting the bar of the goal post. But, Thomas Mueller didn’t let that opportunity go and he put the ball into the goal post on the rebound. The Dortmund players kept struggling throughout the first half and didn’t manage to score even a single goal in the first 45 minutes.

The Dortmund players showed a bit of improvement in their performance in the second half. Robert Lewandowski made the match interesting by scoring the first goal for Dortmund in the 75th minute of the match. The Poland striker got through the Bayern defenders showing brilliant skills and beat Manuel Neuer, the goal keeper of Bayern, with a precised kick.

The manager of Dortmund, Juergen Klopp, was livid with the performance of his team in the first half. He said that the team played extremely poorly in the first half and the players would have to work very hard for the further matches.
