Bayern Munich striker Robert Lewandowski scored a brace as Poland thrashed San Marino 7-1 away from home in Group I of the European qualifiers as far as the Qatar 2022 FIFA World Cup tournament is concerned. The Bayern Munich hitman scored twice in the first half to take his goal tally to six goals in five games since the start of the qualifiers.

Bayern Munich star Lewandowski scored his second and the third Poland goal five minutes later. Karol Linettyscored the fourth goal for the Polish team with one minute left to play in the first half. The brace from Lewandowski gave Poland a four-goal lead at the halftime interval.

Nicola Nanni pulled one back for San Marino at the start of the second half but it turned out to mere consolation after Poland scored three more goals thanks to Adam Buksa who plays his club football in the Major League Soccer (MLS). Only four players including Bayern Munich player Robert Lewandowski have scored more than Buksa in the qualifiers.
