The Hungarians took the lead through star player Adam Szalai to put themselves in a fantastic position to qualify from Group F known as the Group of Death. Chelsea forward Kai Havertzbroke the Hungarian resolve after netting the equaliserfor Germany on 66 minutes only for the Germans to concede immediately after getting back into the game thanks to Andras Schafer. The difference between the two goals was two minutes as that was all it took for the joy of the German fans in Munich to be extinguished.
