MANCHESTER UNITED CLOSE TO SIGNING ALABA FROM BAYERN

David Alaba is said to be headed for the exit door away from Bayern Munich and has been courted by a host of clubs in Europe. The Austrian international defender is adamant he does not want to sign a new deal at Bayern Munich and has attracted interest from clubs including Manchester City and Real Madrid.

As from next week, as long as Alaba does not sign a new deal at Bayern, he will be free to go into negotiations with other teams and will be expected to weigh his options regarding the next club he wants to join for his new adventure.

According to AS, Manchester United are in the race and are in pole position to snap the defender away from Germany. AS reports that the Red Devils have had contact with the player’s entourage and have discussed personal terms already ahead of a move to Old Trafford.

Real Madrid want to sign Alaba but the presence of captain Sergio Ramos at the Spanish capital may mean that the current Bayern Munich star will have to look elsewhere as he would not want to play second fiddle.

Pino Zahavi is the agent of Alaba and he has been talked to by Manchester City who have asked about his availability in January. Chelsea have also registered an interest in the player, as well as Bundesliga outfit RB Leipzig. However, it seems highly unlikely that the Bavarian will allow him to move to their local rivals.

The Bayern Munich board have been left angry at the contract demands tabled by Alaba and his agent and since they are unwilling to meet his demands, they resigned to allow him to talk to other clubs who might be interested in signing him.

Should he move to United, Victor Lindelof may be the player who drops to the bench to hand Alaba a starting berth at the heart of the Red Devil’s defense.
